Meet Your Instructor

Sura is based in sunny San Diego, California. While she's not performing as a professional mermaid, she loves to teach year round in the Pacific Ocean as a double certified PADI mermaid and freediving instructor. She has an extensive freediving background including Emergency First Aid and Scuba Rescue training, instructing people from all walks of life about the science behind apnea and how our bodies adapt to depth. At the same time, she began mermaiding and performed for various events around the world including the Escondido Renaissance Faire, Wands and Wishes, Mermaids Make Waves, and Swim Brayv where she advocates for water conservation and swim safety.

Wherever she goes, she loves to educate all of her students and audience alike about water safety, ocean conservation, and most importantly...to believe in one’s own amazing capabilities!
